The Marathon leads in two long loops through the entire city of Basel. The loops are not identic but a few parts of the route will be passed twice. The profile of the course is slightly wavy and curvy and about 200 meters of altitude must be conquered. We do not intend to set up a record course as we want to offer a versatile and beautiful route to all runners.
Those runners who will take their time to have a look around will be able to spot various sights of the city of Basel. The course leads past the exhibition tower as well as all three still existing city gates. The runners will also get to see the three important rivers of Basel. As a highlight the route will pass the historic old town and the port. In the starting zone, Football and tennis enthusiasts will recognise the stadium of the FC Basel as well as the St.Jakobshalle where the Davidoff Swiss Indoors are held annually. The finish is set directly on the Marktplatz in front of the town hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in Basel.
